Hawaii 2009, Haleakula Day 1

With only one hour of sleep after two very long plane rides. Waiting in the cold. Here it comes! I can't explain how beautiful this was. SUNRISE! 28 mile bike ride down the mountain Made it to sea level. Our first day in Hawaii was so much fun. We only got one hour of sleep the night before because our flight was delayed for 4 hours, but we managed to catch some shut eye here and there. We woke up at 1:30 a.m. to go watch the sunrise on Haleakula Volcano, which cannot not be justified in pictures by any means. One of the most beautiful things we have ever seen. It was below 20 degrees, but so worth it. After watching the sunrise, we then biked down the mountain 28 miles to sea level. It was more like coasting because there was hardly any pedaling involved and the bikes were extremely heavy, but we were going up to 35 miles an hour with a little rain storm along the way. What fun morning and we were done by 11:00 to go and enjoy the rest of the day on the beach and then ha...
